Rice prices today March 9, 2022: Prices of all types of rice continue to stabilize. Rice prices today in the Mekong Delta provinces tend to be stable for rice varieties and rice, especially IR 504 raw rice tends to increase due to limited supply. Farmers in the Mekong Delta provinces are entering the 2021-2022 Winter-Spring rice harvest with the joy of high productivity. However, profits are low due to increased production costs. Mainly due to high fertilizer prices. In the Dong Thap Muoi region of Long An province, farmers are also entering the Winter-Spring rice harvest period, and preparing for the Summer-Autumn crop. Ms. Tran Ngoc Anh in Vinh Loi commune (Tan Hung district) said that production costs have increased to 3 million VND/sao of rice (1,000m2). This year’s production costs are 1 million VND/sao higher than last year. Rice prices are 1,000-1,500 VND/kg lower than the same period. Rice farmers only make a small profit. Households that rent land to grow rice sometimes lose money. Recently, Ms. Anh harvested 3.5 hectares of OM18 rice with a yield of about 8 tons/ha at a price of 5,300 VND/kg. After deducting expenses, she only made a profit of more than 7 million VND/ha. The increase in fertilizer prices has not only made farmers dizzy, but also fertilizer dealers worried. Mr. Nguyen Duy Sau, the owner of a fertilizer dealer in Hau Giang, explained that fertilizer is mainly supplied to farmers for production. Dealers sell on credit to farmers from the beginning of the season, and only collect the capital at the end of the season. If fertilizer prices increase, profits will decrease. Farmers are slow to pay, so capital is stagnant, causing difficulties for business operations. “We do not dare to import a lot of fertilizer, we only import as much as we sell,” Mr. Sau said. According to Mr. Sau, with rice alone, farmers are entering the harvest stage, so the consumption of fertilizers has decreased. When farmers sow rice in the 2022 Summer-Autumn crop, fertilizer consumption will improve. However, fertilizer consumption will not be as high as in previous years. The reason is that many farmers are proactively reducing fertilizer for rice. Mr. Sau said that there have been many models of reducing fertilizer but still maintaining productivity. Production costs have also decreased. Because when reducing fertilizer, especially nitrogen fertilizer, rice plants have fewer pests and diseases, so the cost of pesticides is reduced. #rice_price #agriculture #fresh_rice_price #nhanong #ir50404 #Fresh_glutinous_husk #Long_An_glutinous_rice #OM9577 #OM9582 #OM5451 #NangHoa9 #OM6976 #OM18 #Japanese_rice #Western_Farmer #Farmer_news #Market_prices
