According to rice exporting enterprises, the export situation is currently slow because buyers are waiting for the harvest to pay lower prices… The general trend is that fragrant rice and high-quality rice all decrease in price by about 10 USD/ton. This is an unexpected development in the rice market compared to the trend of increasing world food prices. The two main markets are the Philippines, which accounts for 45% of Vietnam’s rice exports, and are waiting for the new government to issue quotas. Meanwhile, the Chinese market, which accounts for 25% of Vietnam’s rice export market share, is quiet (with glutinous rice and broken rice accounting for less than 50% of total purchases).
