Rice price today August 9, 2021: Rice price at the beginning of the week is stable

Rice prices in the Mekong Delta provinces remained stable at the beginning of the week, with IR 50405 rice increasing by 100 VND. Most rice varieties have much lower prices than the same period last year. According to estimates from the Vietnam Food Association, last week, the price of regular rice at the field decreased by an average of 133 VND/kg and is now only about 5,000 VND/kg. However, the price of regular rice at the warehouse increased slightly by 40 VND/kg, due to difficulties in purchasing between localities, many businesses have stopped buying rice. Currently, companies are trying to purchase all the rice they have signed contracts for in Long An province, while it is not known how the rice areas that have been purchased in other provinces will be handled. Currently, there are 420 thousand hectares of rice in the ripening stage; 370 thousand hectares in the flowering stage; and 18.7 thousand hectares in the tillering stage. The estimated Summer-Autumn rice harvest in August is 680 thousand hectares with an output of 3,808 thousand tons, the accumulated output is 7,867 thousand tons. It is expected that the harvest will end on September 15, 2021.
