However, rice prices are unlikely to fall further as global demand remains strong, while supply from the summer-autumn harvest in the Mekong Delta is decreasing, a trader said. In the first 7 months of 2022, world demand increased, but Vietnam’s rice export price decreased by 9.6% compared to the same period in 2021, reaching an average of 489 USD/ton. This decrease mainly came from export shipments to Asian and African markets, while in the EU and US markets, although the volume is not large, the price is still relatively good and tends to increase.
