Rice price today August 17, 2021: Rice price suddenly dropped sharply

Today’s rice prices in the Mekong Delta provinces suddenly dropped sharply by 200 VND for many types of rice, while rice prices remained stable. The trading market is still slow, many warehouses have not purchased goods. According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, as of August 12, the summer-autumn crop in the provinces/cities of the Mekong Delta region has harvested 780 thousand hectares with a yield of about 5.8 tons/ha, output reaching about 4.524 million tons. The harvest is expected to peak in August and end around mid-September 2021. However, the recent application of Directive 16 in 19 southern provinces/cities has led to congestion in the circulation of rice goods from the fields to factories and from factories to export ports.
