Rice price today August 10, 2021: Prices increased for some types of rice

Today’s rice prices in the Mekong Delta provinces tend to increase again after many localities applied solutions to support rice purchasing for farmers. Faced with difficulties in consuming and purchasing rice for farmers, the agricultural sector of the provinces said it is speeding up solutions to overcome difficulties. Many localities have been flexible and proactive in procedures to create conditions for traders to purchase and transport agricultural products. According to the Department of Crop Production, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the total rice output of the southern provinces this August is expected to reach 2.022 million tons, of which 1.12 million tons are commercial rice; in September 2021, the total rice output is 2.51 million tons, of which 1.6 million tons are commercial rice. In the Mekong Delta alone, by July 22, 2021, the 2021 summer-autumn crop had been planted on 1.5 million hectares. To date, 483,000 hectares have been harvested, with a yield of 5.86 tons/ha. Thus, the Mekong Delta still has over 1 million hectares of rice waiting to be harvested with an expected output of nearly 6 million tons. Rice output is still quite large, while consumption is currently facing many difficulties due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic. However, in recent days, localities have been making efforts to overcome difficulties, creating conditions for traders to purchase, so rice prices in many localities have tended to increase.
