Rice price update on April 6, 2023: Export rice price decreased by 5 USD/ton. Today’s rice price in the Mekong Delta continued to stagnate and move sideways. In the export market, Vietnamese rice prices turned down by 5 USD/ton. According to traders, today there was a lot of raw rice, the price of all types of rice was stable. Demand for rice purchases slowed down, prices were stable. For bran, rice bran prices fell after many days of remaining stable. In the world market, Vietnam’s export rice offering price today was adjusted down by 5 USD/ton. Accordingly, 5% broken rice is at 463 USD/ton, down 5 USD/ton; 25% broken rice also decreased by 5 USD/ton to 443 USD/ton. Following the downward trend with Vietnamese rice, Thai rice also adjusted down by 2 USD/ton for 100% broken rice. Meanwhile, the price of 5% broken rice from Pakistan increased sharply by 15 USD/ton to 483 USD/ton, and 100% broken rice increased by 5 USD/ton to 423 USD/ton. With this adjustment, the price of 5% broken rice from Vietnam is currently 17 USD/ton lower than the same type of rice from Thailand and 20 USD/ton lower than Pakistani rice. However, the Vietnam Food Association commented that, in general, Vietnam’s rice export situation has many positive signs in the first and second quarters of 2023. With the consumption demand of the Philippines, China and African markets, these countries are increasing food reserves as well as preparing for the new year. Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Nam, Chairman of the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), shared that rice exports are forecast to continue to be favorable.
