Rice price update on April 28, 2023: Rice prices remain unchanged. Today’s rice prices in the Mekong Delta remain unchanged after yesterday’s adjustment. Rice trading is slow near the holiday. Some warehouses have stopped buying and are waiting for the holiday to continue trading, while rice traders have also stopped buying and are waiting to observe further. On the world market, the export price of 5% broken rice from Vietnam on April 22, 2023 fluctuated around 483-487 USD/ton, an increase of about 35 USD compared to the previous month. Currently, the export price of 5% broken rice from Vietnam is 5-10 USD/ton lower than the same type of rice from Thailand. For fragrant rice varieties, the export price of Vietnamese Jasmine rice was recorded at 553-557 USD/ton, an increase of about 10 USD compared to the previous month. The price of 100% Thai Hommali rice is currently at 834 USD/ton, a growth rate equivalent to that of Vietnamese rice. The rice export market has many positive signals that help increase domestic rice prices. According to the Vietnam Food Association, by the end of the first quarter of 2023, domestic prices increased by 100 – 200 VND/kg for paddy and 200 – 500 VND/kg for rice of all kinds compared to the beginning of 2023; increased by about 700 VND/kg for paddy and increased by 1,200 – 1,600 VND/kg compared to the same period in 2022. Mr. Tran Ngoc Trung – Vice President of the Vietnam Food Association said that in the second quarter and the whole year of 2023, rice exports continued to have many positive signals.
