Pepper prices today, October 20, remained stable in localities. High demand from the French market will be the driving force for pepper exports in the coming time. In the world market, the International Pepper Community has listed a slight decrease in the export price of Brazilian pepper, keeping Vietnam’s in stock and increasing in the Indonesian market. In recent years, Brazilian pepper has emerged as a competitive market for Vietnamese pepper. Vietnamese pepper is losing market share because the Brazilian and Indonesian markets offer more competitive prices and cheaper shipping costs than Vietnam. However, in the EU market alone, Brazilian pepper is increasingly being warned. In 2019, the EU issued 65 notices about shipments of Brazilian pepper contaminated with Salmonella bacteria, in 2020 there were 66 notices, a similar number was recorded last year. Most recently, in early October 2022, the European Spice Association sent a letter to its members, stating that the European Union Commission will strengthen regulations on pepper originating from Brazil. Accordingly, the EU authorities announced that high rates of positive salmonella were detected in batches of whole black pepper from Brazil. According to EU regulations, in 2022, shipments of black pepper from Brazil exported to the EU must be accompanied by certificates and analysis results proving that there are no Salmonella bacteria. Since 2020, the EU has been conducting Ethylene oxide (ETO) raids across Europe. In spice products, ETO is used to reduce Salmonella bacteria. In the first 6 months of 2022 alone, 41 shipments were related to ETO and Salmonella out of a total of 42 cases warned by Europe. Notably, up to 40 cases of Salmonella warnings came from Brazilian black pepper. Restricting Brazilian pepper from entering Europe helps Vietnamese pepper benefit invisibly in two aspects: reducing competition in this demanding market, and increasing black pepper imports from Brazil itself. Cumulatively from the beginning of the year to the end of September 2022, Vietnam imported 29,625 tons, of which black pepper reached 25,940 tons. Of which, imports from Brazil reached 7,717 tons, an increase of 37.3%, ranking second among the countries exporting the most black pepper to Vietnam. Along with that, high demand from the French market helps the pepper industry have many opportunities to regain the price at the beginning of the year. The Pepper Association assessed that when the economic crisis subsides, the French market will continue to be one of the important export markets for Vietnamese pepper enterprises, because the market share of Vietnamese pepper exports to France only accounts for 10% of the total market share of exports to the EU. #pepper #pepper #news #agriculture #nhanong #mientay #taynguyen #pepper #pepper price today #pepper price #pepper today #udaklak pepper price #ubinhphuoc pepper price #dongnai pepper price #freshest pepper price today #freshest pepper price #vungtau pepper price #gialai pepper price #udaknong pepper price
