Today’s domestic pepper price on July 7, 2022 remained at 69,000 – 72,000 VND/kg. In the first 6 months of 2022, pepper export volume decreased but turnover increased by 13.5%. The domestic pepper market in recent times continued to move sideways with low transaction levels. Yesterday, the Vietnam Pepper Association announced official export figures in June 2022 and the first 6 months of 2022. Specifically, Vietnam’s pepper exports in June 2022 reached 24,214 tons, of which black pepper reached 21,129 tons and white pepper reached 3,085 tons. Total export turnover reached 100.4 million USD, black pepper reached 82.7 million USD, white pepper reached 17.7 million USD. Compared to the previous month, pepper export volume increased by 10.4%, and turnover increased by 1.7%. The US continued to be the largest import market with 5,136 tons, however, US imports decreased by 11.2% compared to May. China’s imports reached 2,999 tons, the highest since the beginning of the year and increased by 2,736 tons compared to the previous month. Olam and Tran Chau were the two largest exporters with 2,766 tons and 2,546 tons. In the first 6 months of 2022, Vietnam exported 125,553 tons of pepper, with black pepper reaching 106,705 tons and white pepper reaching 18,848 tons. Total export turnover reached 568.8 million USD, black pepper reached 456.4 million USD, white pepper reached 112.4 million USD. Compared to the same period last year, pepper export volume decreased by 19.1% equivalent to 29,621 tons, however, export turnover in the first 6 months increased by 13.5% equivalent to 67.6 million USD compared to the same period in 2021. The reason for the decrease in pepper export volume is due to the impact of global economic inflation, so most of Vietnam’s major import markets have reduced import volume.
