fertilizer prices today, March 14, 2022: At the beginning of the week, DAP and Potassium fertilizer prices continued to increase. In Vietnam, fertilizer prices have reached a peak in the past 50 years. Businesses predict a severe shortage of DAP, about 64% of imports in the second quarter, and the possibility of domestic prices reaching 25 million VND/ton. Specifically, in the Mekong Delta region, according to farmers’ feedback, compared to last weekend, fertilizer prices have increased from 300 – 700 VND/kg, depending on the type. Faced with high fertilizer prices, many agricultural cooperatives have carefully studied the fields in combination with farmers’ experience to propose appropriate farming methods in the direction of only fertilizing 50% of the amount of fertilizer to reduce costs. The rice production area in Tri Luc commune, Thoi Binh district, Ca Mau province currently has 1,100 hectares of clean rice, 300 hectares of organic rice with many large fields. According to Mr. Ha Van Sua, Vice Chairman of Tri Luc Commune People’s Committee, thanks to the orientation of clean production and organic production, people are not too affected when the price of inorganic fertilizers increases. “In the current period, for the price of input materials, especially fertilizers for cultivation, with organic fertilizers, Tri Luc commune does not focus on inorganic production but is moving towards sustainability and long-term. The locality recommends that people switch from using inorganic fertilizers to using organic fertilizers and biological products. When the price of inorganic fertilizers increases, the locality has made recommendations, from which the locality has organic and organic products. Therefore, although the situation in Russia – Ukraine causes fertilizer prices to increase, it does not directly affect the production activities of farmers”. Mr. Le Van Mua, Director of Tri Luc Shrimp Rice Production Cooperative, said that the cooperative previously had two product lines: clean rice and organic rice. Faced with the situation of inorganic fertilizer prices increasing too high, the cooperative will soon switch the entire area to organic rice production, helping to reduce input costs and increase economic efficiency. “Inorganic fertilizer has increased from 700 to more than 1 million VND/bag, which is an increase of more than 50,000 VND/kg. Meanwhile, organic fertilizer is 10,500 VND/kg. In the near future, we will switch to organic rice production. Because organic rice production costs less but the price is higher because it is clean rice” – Mr. Le Van Mua said. Many experts have recently recommended that, in order to best adapt to the current context, farmers need to promote the application of new technical advances to reduce the amount of fertilizer, using organic fertilizer to partially replace inorganic fertilizer. In addition, encourage and support farmers to produce and use organic fertilizers from available raw materials such as crop by-products, livestock waste, household waste, etc. to both improve the soil and improve efficiency, thereby reducing dependence on chemical fertilizers. ************************************************ Western Farmer Channel Updates the latest market prices of all types of fertilizers every day for you. ************************************************ Thank you everyone for taking the time to watch the channel’s videos.
