In the latest trading session, Robusta coffee prices on the London floor for September 2022 delivery decreased by 8 USD/ton, to 2,212 USD/ton; November 2022 delivery decreased slightly by 6 USD/ton, to 2,217 USD/ton. Meanwhile, Arabica coffee prices on the New York floor for September 2022 delivery decreased slightly by 3.7 cents/lb, to 232.65 cents/lb; December 2022 delivery decreased by another 3.7 cents/lb, to 228.8 cents/lb. The New York coffee market was closed at the beginning of the week due to a holiday, with only the London exchange trading. As a result, Robusta coffee prices continued to decrease slightly. In the early morning session, the US Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the greenback’s fluctuations against six major currencies (EUR, JPY, GBP, CAD, SEK, CHF), increased sharply by 0.25% to 109.79. Previously, the USD had reached 110.27, the highest level since June 2002, before decreasing slightly by 0.2% to 109.74. The commodity market in general and the coffee market in particular continue to show concern about the upcoming 0.75% interest rate hike by the Fed.
