Domestic coffee prices today, October 7, fluctuated at 46,600 – 47,000 VND/kg, up 100 VND/kg compared to yesterday (October 6). For the world coffee market, coffee prices recorded red on both exchanges. At the end of the trading session, Robusta coffee prices on the London futures exchange for November 2022 delivery had a sharp decrease of 30 USD (-1.2%), closing price at 2,143 USD/ton. Robusta inventories meeting London standards continued to increase, reaching 94,900 tons as of October 3. Arabica coffee prices on the New York futures exchange for December 2022 delivery continued to decrease by 5.55 cents (-2.47%), closing price of the previous session at 219.1 cents/lbs. According to some experts, the global coffee industry will face difficulties in the short term, due to economic recession and slow consumption demand. This week, world coffee prices tend to continue to decrease slightly. It is forecasted that, in the most positive conditions, prices will remain the same as last week. At the same time, affected by world coffee prices, domestic coffee prices this week are expected to remain stable, however, the possibility of a decrease is not high due to the small amount of coffee reserves. The General Statistics Office of Vietnam estimates that coffee exports in September 2022 will reach 100,000 tons (about 1.66 million bags), down 3% over the same period last year. However, the cumulative coffee export turnover for the 2021/2022 crop year increased by 6.14% over the previous crop year. Vietnam’s total coffee export turnover in the first 9 months of the year reached 3.1 billion USD (up 37.6% over the same period last year). The Coffee – Cocoa Association (Vicofa) predicts that if the export price of coffee remains high, the Vietnamese coffee industry will set a record export milestone of 4 billion USD in 2022.
