Coffee prices today, July 29, 2022, continued to increase with an adjustment of 200 VND/kg. According to records, the domestic market is currently purchasing coffee at a price range of 43,500 – 44,000 VND/kg. In this morning’s session, futures prices on the Shanghai Stock Exchange increased by more than 1%. In the world market, coffee prices fluctuated in opposite directions. Accordingly, the online price of robusta coffee in London for delivery in September 2022 was recorded at 2,015 USD/ton after an increase of 0.3% (equivalent to 6 USD). The price of arabica coffee for delivery in September 2022 in New York reached 218.4 US cents/pound, down 0.32% (equivalent to 0.7 US cents) at the time of survey at 7:10 am (Vietnam time). South Korea is Vietnam’s 13th largest coffee export market. In the first half of 2022, the amount of coffee exported to Korea averaged 3.2 thousand tons/month, lower than the average of 3.47 thousand tons/month in the same period in 2021. However, in terms of value, coffee exports to Korea in the first half of 2022 averaged 8.2 million USD/month, higher than 6.53 million USD/month in the same period in 2021. According to statistics from the General Department of Customs, in June 2022, Vietnam’s coffee exports to Korea reached 2.47 thousand tons, worth 6.17 million USD, down 35.4% in volume and 27.7% in value compared to May 2022, down 34.7% in volume and 20.6% in value compared to June 2021. In the second quarter of 2022, coffee exports to South Korea reached 9.46 thousand tons, worth 22.8 million USD, down 2.7% in volume and 13.5% in value compared to the first quarter of 2022, down 4.0% in volume but up 14.3% in value compared to the second quarter of 2021. In the first 6 months of 2022, coffee exports to South Korea reached approximately 19.2 thousand tons, worth 49.16 million USD, down 7.9% in volume but up 25.4% in value compared to the same period in 2021. In June 2022, the average export price of Vietnamese coffee to South Korea reached 2,494 USD/ton, up 11.9% compared to May 2022 and up 21.5% compared to June 2021.
