The increase in the US dollar continues to put pressure on the commodity market in general and the coffee market in particular. According to the USDA, the global surplus of 8 million bags in the new coffee crop year 2022/2023 is likely due to increased Arabica coffee productivity in Brazil. The market expectation is that at the July 2022 policy meeting on the 26th and 27th, the Fed is expected to raise the base interest rate by 0.5 – 0.75% to show its strength to avoid the risk of recession.
