In the world market, coffee prices today continued to decrease on both major exchanges. At the end of the latest trading session, Robusta coffee prices on the London floor for delivery in July 2022 decreased by 2 USD/ton to 1,944 USD/ton, and for delivery in September 2022 decreased by 6 USD/ton to 1,955 USD/ton. Meanwhile, the price of Arabica coffee on the New York floor for July 2022 delivery decreased by 2.15 cents/lb, at 222.5 cents/lb, and for September 2022 delivery decreased by 1.85 cents/lb, at 219.2 cents/lb. The world coffee market continued to decline as speculators rushed to withdraw capital to find shelter due to increased risk concerns, when speculation that the Fed would continue to raise interest rates at the upcoming policy meeting. The soaring US stock exchanges and Treasury yields attracted speculative capital flows from everywhere, causing world commodity exchanges to plummet. The market is showing concern about global inflation that has given way to the increasing risk of recession. In addition, world coffee prices fell after the May trade report of the International Coffee Organization (ICO). The report shows that global coffee exports in May 2022 reached 10.8 million bags, up 10% year-on-year.
