Specifically, Lampung black pepper (Indonesia) decreased by 2.36% to 3,736 USD/ton. Muntok white pepper decreased by 2.78% to 6,046 USD/ton. Brazilian black pepper was stable at 2,550 USD/ton; black pepper (Malaysia) 5,100 USD/ton; Malaysian white pepper 7,300 USD/ton. Vietnamese black pepper 500g/l 3,250 USD/ton; black pepper 550g/l 3,350 USD/ton. White pepper 4,850 USD/ton. Official statistics from the Vietnam Pepper Association show that in September 2022, Vietnam exported 14,901 tons, of which black pepper reached 12,547 tons and white pepper reached 1,544 tons. Total export turnover reached 57.6 million USD, black pepper reached 48.9 million USD, white pepper reached 8.7 million USD. Compared to the previous month, export volume decreased by 25.7% and turnover decreased by 25.8%. The US is still Vietnam’s largest pepper export market, reaching 3,603 tons, but import volume decreased by 23.6% compared to August. China is the second largest import market, reaching 2,125 tons, down 25.7%. In September, most of Vietnam’s traditional export markets reduced imports such as Germany, the Netherlands, the UAE, India, Singapore, etc. Major exporters in the month included: Olam Vietnam: 2,035 tons, Tran Chau: 1,265 tons, Phuc Sinh: 1,047 tons, Haprosimex JSC: 1,043 tons, etc. From the beginning of the year to the end of September 2022, Vietnam exported 177,221 tons of pepper of all kinds, black pepper reached 152,768 tons, white pepper reached 24,453 tons. Total export turnover reached 782.6 million USD, black pepper reached 638.2 million USD, white pepper reached 144.4 million USD. Compared to the same period last year, the export volume decreased by 17.6%, equivalent to 37,905 tons, but the export turnover increased by 7.6%, equivalent to 55.2 million USD. Explaining the current market situation, the Vietnam Pepper Association (VPA) said that domestic pepper prices have fallen sharply due to a sharp drop in consumption demand amid high inflation, especially in countries such as the United States, the EU and China.
