Latest fertilizer prices on February 13, 2022 | Fertilizer prices continued to stagnate at a high level at the end of the week. According to DTN, the average price of 5 out of 8 fertilizers in the week ending February 4 decreased compared to the previous week, 2 remained the same and the remaining increased. In the week ending February 4, the prices of MAP, potash, urea, dry fertilizer, and UAN28 all decreased compared to the previous week and were respectively 933 USD/ton, 813 USD/ton, 905 USD/ton, 1,487 USD/ton and 600 USD/ton. The decrease was in the range of 1-5 USD/ton. The two types that remained the same were DAP and UAN32, at 877 USD/ton and 699 USD/ton, respectively. Base fertilizer 10-34-0 is the only type that increased, from 1,487 USD/ton to 1,492 USD/ton. Compared to the beginning of the year, the prices of 7 types of fertilizers all increased, only urea decreased by 8 USD/ton, equivalent to 0.9%. The type that increased sharply was dry fertilizer with 57 USD/ton, equivalent to 4%; UAN32 increased by 2.9%, base fertilizer increased by 2.6%. According to the assessment, although fertilizer prices decreased compared to last week, most items are still at high levels. High prices are forcing farmers to adjust their planting plans. Many people choose to grow crops that require less nutrients or reduce fertilizer use to save costs. Reducing fertilizer can lead to lower yields and less grain output, pushing up food prices.
