Vinacam, one of the leading fertilizer importers in Vietnam, predicts that the Fertilizer market in April and the second quarter of 2022 will be greatly affected by the Russia-Ukraine war. For urea, most major manufacturers in Southeast Asia have run out of goods for delivery in April until the first half of May. According to Vinacam, for DAP, world prices are stable, buyers accept prices of 1,050 – 1,080 USD/ton (FOB). Chinese enterprises offer prices of 1,150 – 1,200 USD/ton at Lao Cai border gate, equivalent to the cost price of around 30 million VND/ton in Ho Chi Minh City. Vinacam believes that the supply of DAP from domestic manufacturers is even more limited when the problem of raw materials has not been completely resolved, while most of the production is prioritized for the export market. The market will soon increase in price again when the cheap inventory is exhausted, combined with massive exports and the approaching harvest season. The price of imported DAP 64 is expected to climb to 28 million – 30 million VND/ton in the third quarter of 2022. An important item is NPK, which cannot be imported from Russia, and the supply from China is blocked due to technical barriers from customs inspection.
