fertilizer prices today, May 25, 2022: Fertilizer prices remained stable after a downward adjustment in Urea yesterday. Fertilizer demand is steady in the Mekong Delta region and gradually increasing in the Central region. According to preliminary statistics from the General Department of Customs, in April, Vietnam imported 324,579 tons of fertilizer, equivalent to 155.3 million USD, down 3.5% in volume and 0.8% in value compared to March. In April, Vietnam imported this item from the main market China, up 14% in volume and 20.7% in value compared to March, at 157,095 tons, equivalent to 63.58 million USD. Imports from the Russian market continued to decrease by more than 49% in volume and 52% in value with 20,093 tons, equivalent to 13.9 million USD. In the first 4 months of the year, the amount of fertilizer purchased from other countries was 1.3 million tons (down 5.7% compared to the same period in 2021), worth nearly 595.3 million USD (up 65.6%). China remained the leading supplier of fertilizer to Vietnam in the first 4 months, with 518,302 tons, equivalent to 207.8 million USD, up 25% in turnover and 48.7% in price over the same period last year. Russia ranked second with 130,489 tons, equivalent to 82 million USD, up 21.7% in volume, up 139% in turnover over the same period last year. The Southeast Asian market ranked third with 122,857 tons, equivalent to 75.1 million USD, down 15.8% in volume but up 95% in turnover over the same period last year. In terms of exports, Vietnam sold 627,932 tons of various fertilizers, worth 412.6 million USD, up 32.7% in volume and 174.8% in value over the same period last year. Thus, in the first 4 months of the year, Vietnam had a trade deficit of 182.7 million USD. Cambodia bought 146,476 tons of fertilizers from Vietnam, worth 80.1 million USD, down 2.1% in volume but up 61.8% in value. South Korea bought 43,076 tons, worth 34.3 million USD, up 197.7% in volume and 807.4% in value.
