Recently, a representative of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Long An province said that Long An currently has thousands of hectares of land reduced in the summer-autumn crop because people abandoned rice. Due to the high price of agricultural materials due to the impact of the “price storm”, especially agricultural fertilizers and materials, Long An farmers have reduced the rice growing area by more than 4,000 hectares. Compared to the same period in 2021, the rice growing area in Long An has decreased. The main reason is that rice farmers are not profitable (especially rice farmers) and have returned the land to the landowner. Some experts say that Vietnam should refer to the experience of some countries in the world, they will choose to support farmers through policies on subsidizing agricultural product purchases or subsidizing input materials.
