Rice price update on March 20, 2023: Rice prices continue to be stable. Today’s rice prices in the Mekong Delta are stable and sideways. 5451 rice has a low selling price, the same as DT8, good quality rice has a high price, easy to sell. In the world market, Vietnam’s export rice prices today have leveled off after an upward adjustment session. Currently, the price of 5% broken rice is at 448 USD/ton; 25% broken rice remains at 428 USD/ton. Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, Director of Phuoc Thanh IV Production – Trading Company Limited, said that up to this point, about 60% of the winter-spring rice crop has been harvested. Compared to the previous crop, the amount of commercial rice is abundant, the rice price has been adjusted down but is still stable. Currently, the export rice price is decreasing by 10 USD – 20 USD/ton, compared to the time after Tet. “The export price of rice has decreased, so many importers are looking to buy, but they are still cautious, waiting for the price to drop further before closing the contract,” said Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh. According to the Director of Phuoc Thanh IV Production – Trading Company Limited, the Philippine market is very fond of OM18, OM5451 and DT8 rice varieties. The prices of these rice varieties are fluctuating from 480 – 500 USD/ton, depending on the variety and export standards. Meanwhile, China prefers ST rice, this winter-spring crop, many farmers have grown ST25 rice.
