Rice price update on April 13, 2023: Rice prices remain stable. Today’s rice prices in the Mekong Delta are stable and remain stable. It is forecasted that rice exports in the second quarter will maintain growth momentum. In the world market, Vietnam’s export rice prices today stagnated and remained stable after an upward adjustment session. Accordingly, 5% broken rice is at 473 USD/ton; 25% broken rice is 453 USD/ton. In the first quarter of 2023, the high export rice price is due to the sharp increase in the proportion of high-quality rice (fragrant rice, sticky rice, specialty rice, etc.) with high selling prices. Currently, the proportion of high-quality rice accounts for 50% of Vietnam’s total rice exports, with selling prices ranging from 600 – 1,000 USD/ton. The Vietnam Food Association (VFA) forecasts that Vietnam’s rice exports in the second quarter will maintain positive growth momentum. In particular, due to the impact of economic and political instability and increased demand for food reserves in countries, export rice prices remain high. According to the USDA’s April 2023 forecast, global rice production in the 2022/2023 crop year will decrease slightly. Meanwhile, both imports and exports have been adjusted up compared to the previous forecast. #rice price today #nhanongmientay #giacathitruong
